Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and/or education, and location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Audit Manager, the staff auditor is responsible for performing internal audits over financial, operational, and compliance audit areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Through research, judgement, and discussion with client, prepares the planning memo, which serves as the overall guide for the internal audit.
  • Exercises judgement in preparing Risk and Control Matrix and reviewing with client to guide the overall internal audit.
  • Designs and executes design effectiveness as well as operating effectiveness testing: reviews results with client to determine risk and exposure.
  • Based on results of internal audit work, exercises professional judgment in crafting the first draft of the internal audit report.
  • Maintains an ongoing professional desire in seeking ways to improve the Bank's internal audit practice, including audit program approaches, cost efficiencies, and team building.
  • Prepares audit workpapers in accordance with professional standards and expectations.
  • Designs and maintains accurate and current audit and internal control procedures, programs, and related documentation.
  • Maintains good working knowledge and awareness of financial industry, audit control, and trends.
  • Complies with, and stays abreast of, all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.
  • Provide, present, and promote the Citizens Experience to all external and internal customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance from a four-year college or university required; 1 - 2 years' experience in a top 10 accounting firm, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions independently. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Access.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA) must be obtained 12 months after hire date.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Must possess some knowledge of Bank financial accounting, operations and lending functions and services, related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
