Position Summary:

Responsible for the administrative duties required in the credentialing verification process. Under general supervision, enters specialized applicant information into the centralized credential software application and coordinates the credentialing process for the Medical Staff offices of the respective entities. Works in a team environment within the department and with the Medical Staff offices. Serves as a liaison between JHHS CCO, JHHS affiliated hospitals and Medical Staff Administration offices, and JHCP.

Competencies:

A. Education:

Requires a minimum of an Associate's Degree. Experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the degree on a 2 years of experience for 1 year of education basis.

B. Knowledge:

Working knowledge of general office practices and software applications. Demonstrated understanding of credentialing policies and procedures and training program requirements as established by the CCO, as well as accreditation and regulatory requirements relating to the medical staff.

C. Skills:




  • Organizational skills required to handle voluminous paper flow and to prioritize tasks in order to meet cyclical deadlines.
  • Ability to manage demanding workload; self-motivated; able to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Keyboard skills with exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analytical skills and critical thinking is necessary to determine whether correct and complete information was provided on applications.
  • Able to concentrate on tasks regardless of distractions.
  • Tolerates detailed/tedious tasks, such as deciphering submitted applications from the medical staff.
  • Pays meticulous attention to detail.
  • Interacts with diverse groups of people within the Health System and with outside agencies.
  • Possesses ability to interpret, including production of reports covering the area of responsibility.
  • Adheres to professional confidentiality standards in accordance with legal, ethical, and departmental policies.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential situations/information, with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with applicants or colleagues by telephone or in person.
  • Possesses excellent command of English; verbal, written (to include grammar and spelling), and reading.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills.



D: Required Licensure,Certification, Etc.:

CPCS preferred

E. Work Experience: One year of work experience in the healthcare industry with an understanding of healthcare terminology or a minimum of 1 years' experience in general credentialing services highly preferred.

Salary Range: Minimum $20.22 per hour - Maximum $33.38 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
