What We Need

The SMART Configuration team supports the Underwriting business function by maintaining and enhancing the enterprise Rating Engine (SMART). We ensure application availability, research production issues, gather enhancement requests and develop technology solutions to ensure that Blue Cross develops competitive rates and maintains financial stability in an efficient manner. The Configuration specialist will be a member of the team working under the Director of Rating Methodologies (or the Lead Configuration Analyst) that analyzes and solves a wide variety of problems.

Your Day to Day

  • Perform business, data and systems analysis.
  • Document findings and present them to team members and customers to ensure we accurately understand the problem or enhancement request.
  • Work with team members to develop and implement technology solutions.
  • Build trusting relationships with team members, customers and external partners (sales, actuary, enterprise technology, benefits) that will allow you to effectively support the Underwriting business function.
  • Configure changes in the SMART application

We're Looking for:

  • Strong analytical skills and a desire to solve problems.
  • Technical skills with exposure to MS Visual Basic, Excel, SQL
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills in dealing with multiple stakeholders.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree with focus on math, finance or computer science / information systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and finding new ways to do things.
  • Ability to clearly communicate how technology solutions solve business problems in a user-friendly language.
  • Ability to work in an agile or iterative software development methodology.
  • Ability to work independently and on a cross functional team.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks and clearly communicate status and issues which prevent completion.
  • Exposure to Visual Basic or macro development in MS Excel.
  • Awareness of relational databases and SQL query / script development.
  • Data Warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word, and ability to learn new software / tools.

LocationBoston Time TypeFull time Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $86,130.00

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
