Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Associate Sample Prep Technician (2nd shift) to support metallurgical testing operations by preparing material samples for analysis. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and quality of metallurgical evaluations by performing precise sample cutting, mounting, polishing, and other preparatory procedures.

Second Shift: 1:00 - 9:30pm

Salary: $21 - $22/hour DOE (Depending on Experience) + $1.00 for shift differential



Responsibilities

    Prepare metallic samples for metallurgical testing, including cutting, grinding, and polishing.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (i.e. cleaning) such as saws, grinders, and polishers.
  • Ensure samples meet required specifications and industry standards for metallurgical analysis.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Read and understand customer purchase orders and standard operating procedures (SOP) to prepare the samples
  • Adhere to company policies, quality control procedures, and safety regulations.


Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or metalworking environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand what must be completed each workday and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is.

Work Environment:

  • Laboratory or industrial setting with exposure to chemicals, noise, and machinery.
  • Use company provided personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats.
  • May involve standing for extended periods and handling heavy materials.
