Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Security Assistant providing support to the Aerospace Management Systems Division HBA Division (AFLCMC/HBA). The Aerospace Management Systems Division develops, delivers, and sustains air traffic management, CNS/ATM avionics, and weather sensing capabilities to support military, civil, and allied operations worldwide.

The Security Assistant will provide support to perform administrative security functions under the direction of the activity security manager without regard for job series or title or for rank, rate, or grade as long as they have the clearance required for the access needed to perform their assigned duties and tasks.

The Security Assistant will assist the AF Cognizant Security Authority (CSA) in oversight of national security objectives supporting AF interests. The Security Assistant will provide day-to-day support for collateral and/or as specifically directed, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) activities. This will be accomplished through active and integrated security operations, processes, mechanisms and performed under the direction of Government security administrator.

The Security Assistant will provide multi-disciplinary security support, including aspects of information security, personnel security, operations security, industrial security, communications security, acquisition security, general security, physical security and anti-terrorism/force protection duties, while also being responsive and flexible to dynamic security situations.

The Security Assistant will perform analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work that has as its principal purpose the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.

This is a full time position at Hanscom AFB, MA.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: Program & Personnel Security Support
    Provide technical security advice and support for multiple collateral programs and, when required, SCI programs within the directorate.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Information Protection (IP) leads, program managers, contracting officers, and other stakeholders to ensure standardized protection measures throughout the acquisition and sustainment lifecycle.
  • Advise on counterintelligence threats, emerging security risks, and trends to support personnel and program security efforts.
  • Assist in developing Security Classification Guides, Program Protection Plans, Security Operating Procedures (SOPs), DD Form 254s, and other key acquisition/security documents.
  • Support inspection preparations by ensuring compliance with security requirements, preparing documentation, and contributing to internal audits and assessments.
  • Assist with inspection-related tasks, including Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) updates and other compliance reporting as required.
Document & Classification Management
  • Review program documentation for public release, ensuring proper markings, classifications, and distribution statements in accordance with DoD and Air Force guidance. Provide recommendations to IP leads regarding document disposition.
  • Provide classification guidance and assistance for all collateral and SCI programs, ensuring compliance with applicable security protocols.
  • Conduct classification reviews of inbound and outbound correspondence, ensuring proper handling of sensitive materials.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Operations Security (OPSEC) plans, emergency action plans, transition plans, and transportation plans.
  • Assist in classified document reproduction and distribution, ensuring proper handling in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Oversee the destruction of classified materials and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in accordance with security policies.
Facility & Physical Security
  • Maintain and enforce facility access control measures, including visitor management, escorting, and issuance/tracking of access badges.
  • Conduct entry and exit inspections, as well as random anti-terrorism measures, per unit, installation, and higher-level directives.
  • Assist in monitoring, securing, and managing Classified Processing Areas (CAPs) and Secure Work Areas (SWAs), including:
    • Exercising access control.
    • Conducting end-of-duty security checks.
    • Managing security container combination changes and maintenance.
    • Reporting and coordinating necessary repairs for security equipment.
    • Assisting in secure space construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage Secure Video Teleconferencing (SVTC) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, ensuring operational security compliance.
  • Oversee alarm system activities, including system testing, maintenance coordination, and response procedures.
Security Clearance & Visitor Access Management
  • Monitor security clearances through the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), ensuring personnel meet clearance requirements and security standards.
  • Ensure personnel security clearances remain current, verify access levels, and process collateral access requests (e.g., NATO, Formerly Restricted Data). Alert IP leads of any missing SF-312/Non-Disclosure Agreements.
  • Prepare, process, and review Visitor Access Requests (VARs) for accuracy and eligibility. Ensure timely and accurate visit certifications for personnel.
  • Assist in researching, processing, filing, and maintaining inbound and outbound VAR notices.
  • Input foreign visit and foreign contact reports in DISS upon self-reporting.
  • Assist with Electronic Questionnaires for Investigation Processing (e-QIP) and Standard Form 86 (SF-86) submissions for military and government civilian employees.
  • Facilitate military and government civilian fingerprinting for new and upgraded clearance requests.
Administrative & Miscellaneous Support
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintenance of security-related databases.
  • Prepare and manage classified mail shipments in compliance with government accountable mailing procedures.
  • Assist in preparing classified packages, processing courier forms, and maintaining receipt records.
  • Assume duties as Communications Security Responsible Officer (COMSEC RO) or Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO) as required.
  • Serve as an alternate equipment custodian when necessary.
  • Support classified meetings by coordinating security protocols, ensuring compliance with access controls, and managing required documentation.
  • Assist with security awareness and education programs, including creating/modifying presentations, brochures, and posters, as well as delivering in-person security briefings.
  • Follow and enforce Government standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational instructions.
  • Perform additional security-related and administrative tasks as directed by the Contractor site lead and/or IP lead.


Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Clearance

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Years' experience: 15 years of directly related experience, 8 years of which must be in the DoD.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of counterintelligence threats and emerging security trends.
  • Knowledge of DoD and Air Force security policies, directives, manuals, and instructions.
  • Familiarity with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
  • Basic understanding of DD Form 254 and its role in the Air Force acquisition process.
  • Experience with classified document identification and proper safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to and support contingency schedules for emergency or critical mission support.
  • Understanding of cloud-based classified systems and secure network connections (preferred).
Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with DoD personnel, military and civilian staff, and industry partners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and accurately.
  • Demonstrated maturity and discretion when handling sensitive or classified information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound security-related decisions.
