Responsibilities The Infection Preventionist and Employee Health RN provides education and consultation to the organization in infection prevention and employee health practices in accordance with regulatory compliance with industry standards. Applies education and professional experience in daily practice and education of staff members. Utilizes national standards and guidelines as well as regulations, state laws and compliance organization recommendations to maintain a safe patient environment and establish best practice within the organization. Remains current with infection prevention and employee health issues, infections and communicable diseases related to all age groups from neonate/infants through geriatrics. Knowledge of the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) patient safety surveillance and reporting program is essential. Utilizes National Health Safety Network (NHSN) infection definitions to perform surveillance and identify trends or outbreaks of infections. Maintaining a current knowledge in infection prevention and employee health practices and technology is essential to provide effective, ongoing surveillance of general and special ventilation, water controls, construction, regulated and unregulated waste, pest control, environmental, furniture and equipment cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, supply selection and management. Demonstrates effective communication skills and a proficiency in standard computer programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point programs and is able to generate effective reports and presentations. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe effective patient and family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education and satisfaction. The RN applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. The RN performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required:
