Position Overview:
The Team Lead oversees the operations, ensures conformance of policies and procedures, and ensures team's work product meets or exceeds customer satisfaction. Teams are responsible for processing, conducting and adjudicating background investigations for the Department of Health and Human Services. This position requires the Team Lead to be onsite a minimum of two days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing general direction to direct reports, ensures conformance of policies and procedures, and ensures team's work product meets or exceeds the terms of the contract and Performance Work Statement in order to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction for their team.
- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set, and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work
- Develop and edit standard operating procedures
- Works with the Management to monitor standards of performance, implement quality control measures, and capture knowledge through ongoing process evaluation.
- Provides training for new employees and tracks employees' progress of training plan.
- Conducts Quality Control Checks monthly to ensure contract compliance.
- Ensures the quality and timeliness of deliverables and assigned work.
- Approves and reviews time sheets for invoicing accuracy.
- Coordinates vacation/leave requests with Management and Federal Staff.
- Conducts performance reviews for their direct reports.
- Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters
- Assists Management and Human Resources in the recruitment and hiring process including conducting interviews for openings within their department.
- Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training
- Provides and documents informal coaching of employees.
- Assists Management and Human Resources with formal discipline process as needed.
- Assists Management and Human Resources with addressing complaints and resolving issues within their department as needed.
- Professionally represents the organization to internal and external customers

Qualifications:
- Must possess a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of three years of personnel security experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Requires an in-depth knowledge of the principles, processes, and methods of personnel security.
- Requires the skills to develop alternatives and solutions to general issues.
- Requires working knowledge of the processes of inter-related departments or functional areas.
- The position requires the ability to develop partnerships and effective working relationships with a wide array of customers, sponsors, and federal agencies.
- Must have documented experience in Microsoft Office Suite. (Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point, Word)
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Desired Attributes:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working with the Department of Health and Human Services.
