Position Summary:

The Sr Tooling Engineer is responsible for design, sourcing of, validation of, and maintenance of flashless transfer molding rubber molds used to produce precision medical components. The Sr Tooling Engineer will work with customers, process engineering, and operations management teams to ensure process capability and performance on the press line. The Sr Tooling Engineer will be the plants subject matter expert on tool design and performance.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Primary duty involves the design coordination of new and existing tooling and engineering projects involving quotation, preliminary design concepts, design layout, drawing creation, design review/approval, and fabrication support
  • Evaluates employees through performance reviews, ongoing coaching and feedback methods
  • Maintain capital expense tooling log and budget spreadsheet
  • Maintain tooling quotation log and coordinate quoting activities
  • Perform technical support to customers through phone communication, written correspondence, and customer meetings
  • Perform technical support to manufacturing, process engineering, automation, and maintenance teams
  • Support and coordinate tool room activities in the absence of the Tooling Manager
  • Design modifications and improvements to existing equipment to achieve increased efficiency and improve quality
  • Ability to use electronic and manual measuring equipment



Must Have:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related field required
  • 5 years of practical experience in tool/mold design
  • Strong working knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD, Solid works or equivalent software
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Utilization of statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Ability to apply analytical reasoning to complex problems. Able to process and organize multiple details into actionable activities and solutions.
