The Integrations and Solutions Professional-II will serve as Data Engineer for the Precision Sustainable Agriculture (
PSA) Network, which services scientists collecting data on sustainable agriculture systems across the United States. The mission of the
PSA network is to design clean uniform data collection and aggregate data from sustainable farming practices on a nationwide scale in order to develop predictive, real-time models to help farmers make decisions in a changing agriculture environment.
This Data Engineer is integral to the program by managing and coordinating the
PSA Data Flow team and will build visualizations around grower needs on a web platform by using data collected in real-time by network field technicians. This team is comprised of a network of multiple collaborating institutions from around the country that are part of the
PSA program building visualization web platform around grower needs by using data collected in real-time The Data Engineer will need a knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices as well as computer science and coding techniques to effectively parse, and store data for modelers and future collaborators. Responsibilities include of the Data Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
* Assisting with designing a data pipeline and implementing data flow management (input, processing, storage, and output) systems to meet the needs of the
PSA network. For internal analysis, reporting, and sharing with network and ultimately growers and producers.
* Providing administration of existing databases ensuring database operates smoothly, securely, and efficiently while designing their future growth as protocols evolve.
* Creating visualizations from real-time and previous data for
PSA partners.
* Managing computer science interns on projects including web apps and data parsing activities |
