Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Executive Director of Adult Day and Supported Employment Services oversees overall service line strategy and drives program operations of all Adult Day Services and Supported Employment programs in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey with responsibilities, including but not limited to, business development, operations, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, ensuring best practices, establishing budgets, and maintaining operations so that performance exceeds customer expectations and operates within the established budget.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Strategically develop and implement service line strategies to expand, restructure, and guide the organization towards novel opportunities and directions, and ensuring the integration of innovative practices and methodologies, through market analyses, identifying growth areas, and setting actionable goals to ensure Elwyn's progressive evolution in service delivery
  • Actively inspire and propagate a shared vision for the development of services catered to adults with disabilities, employing motivational leadership techniques including, but not limited to, fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment to align staff efforts with Elwyn's mission and enhance service quality
  • Design and implement an effective organizational structure to capitalize on strengths and support growth in Adult Day Services and Supported Employment by identifying key roles, optimizing team dynamics, and facilitating professional development, etc. with the aim of enhancing operational efficiency and staff competency
  • Proactively collaborate with other senior management members to cultivate an environment that fosters cooperative efforts between the Adult Day Services, Supported Employment Services, and other Elwyn service areas through activities including but not limited to facilitating cross-departmental initiatives and shared resources to promote synergy and achieve common goals for Elwyn and its consumers
  • Identify and prioritize critical service development initiatives, ensuring a proactive approach to evolving consumer needs and industry trends, through activities including, but not limited to, conducting needs assessments, resource allocation, and strategic planning, etc. to position Elwyn to the forefront of service innovation
  • Innovatively create and mobilize responses to future needs and challenges, through activities including but not limited to, adopting new technologies, developing adaptive strategies, and engaging in proactive problem-solving, etc. to ensure Elwyn's preparedness and resilience in a dynamic service environment
  • Establish and maintain a balanced operational setting that effectively harmonizes clinical and business priorities, promoting best practices across programs through implementing initiative including, but not limited to, implementation of evidence-based approaches and ensuring financial prudence to strengthen service excellence and fiscal responsibility
  • Direct operations in a fiscally responsible manner, adhering to and optimizing established budgets, by stewarding efficient resource management, monitoring cost control measures, and implementing sound financial planning to ensure the sustainability and fiscal health of the services offered
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Vice President of Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (SVP IDD) to enable the organization to effectively respond to new business opportunities through strategic planning, partnership development, market analysis, etc. to facilitate growth and diversification
  • Ensure a consistent outcome-focused approach in all operations, including but not limited to, setting measurable goals, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies as needed to align operations with Elwyn's mission and enhancing service impact
  • Generate and actively monitor relevant data, contributing to the overall program development goals, through activities including, but not limited to, data analysis, reporting, and utilizing insights for strategic decision-making to ensure informed and effective management of services
  • Oversee all programs to ensure they meet credentialing requirements, licensure, certification, and accreditation standards through tasks including but not limited to regular compliance reviews, updating policies, and ensuring staff training and adherence, etc. to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery and regulatory compliance
  • Consistently ensure customer satisfaction through effective service delivery and responsive communication through activities including, but not limited to, gathering feedback, addressing concerns, and implementing improvements, etc., to fostering positive relationships and continuously build trust with customers
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that their needs are comprehensively met through regular communication, listening to and understanding stakeholder expectations, and developing personalized service, etc. to reinforce Elwyn's commitment to customer-centric care
  • Provide comprehensive supervision to assigned staff, covering areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline, and termination.


    • Implement strategies that foster a productive and positive work environment, ensuring staff are well-equipped, motivated, and aligned with Elwyn's objectives and values through activities including but not limited to, conducting regular performance evaluations, offering professional development opportunities, and ensuring a high level of team engagement and competence


  • Works with, understands, and complies with terms and conditions of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) within a unionized environment with tasks including but not limited to adherence to scheduling procedures, processing transfers and promotions, administering disciplinary actions, adjudicating grievances, where appropriate, etc.
  • Maintains current state-mandated training and certifications
  • Follows all current policies and procedures of Elwyn New Jersey and Elwyn of Pennsylvania and Delaware
  • Cooperates with Elwyn New Jersey, the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, or any other authorized investigating body, including those in Pennsylvania and Delaware, during an inspection, inquiry, or investigation
  • Responsibly perform additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to, taking on special projects, participating in organizational initiatives, and adapting to evolving organizational needs



EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • One of the following combinations of education and experience:


    • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or sixty (60) credit hours AND four (4) years of experience working directly with persons with intellectual disabilities; OR
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities; OR
    • Master's degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities


  • Master's degree in human service field preferred
  • Ten (10) years of management experience in the human services field, adult day and/or supported employment program experience preferred
  • Previous experience working within and managing a unionized workforce preferred
  • Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated strong, well-balanced leadership skills
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using/knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
  • Negotiating and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to analyze and forecast service needs
  • Demonstrated ability to develop budgetary requirements and fiscally manage operations of a large service line
  • Strong performance vision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the New Jersey Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served
  • Must agree to have their name checked against the New Jersey Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and NJ Child Abuse Registry (CARI).
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
