Founded in 2017 and based in Chicago, Meitheal is focused on the development and commercialization of generic injectable medications and, as of 2022, has expanded its focus to include fertility, biologic, and branded products. Position Summary: The Senior Director, Trade and Specialty Distribution will be responsible for ensuring timely access and consistent availability of Meitheal Pharmaceutical's brand, specialty and biosimilar product portfolio across various Trade and Channel Partners including national and regional wholesalers and specialty distributors, retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, etc. Responsible for representing Meitheal, developing and maintaining relationships, and supporting and expanding partnerships with assigned trade partners to support Meitheal's overall business and brand specific goals and objectives. Responsible for monitoring trade partner business, managing day-to-day activities, and optimizing KPIs and contract performance. Inform new product launch planning, ensure trade partner launch readiness, and successfully execute launch programs, activities and materials.

The pay range for this position is $235,000 to $275,000. Payrate is determined by considering a person's prior experience and competence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop strong relationships with Trade Partner leadership, account management team, contracting and procurement teams; and key influencers and decision-makers among the various national and regional Trade partners including full-line wholesalers, specialty distributors, retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, etc.
  • Lead negotiations with assigned trade accounts for new and existing contracts ensuring language and T&Cs represent Meitheal's best interest, optimize profitability and protect GTN.
  • Collaborate with Meitheal's Specialty Business Unit, Legal, Contract Marketing, IT/Data and Supply Chain teams to inform, implement and execute contracts.
  • Inform and support the development of Trade and Channel Strategies across products and Trade policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal cross functional stakeholders and provide subject matter expertise to inform, support and execute new product launches and existing product brand strategies.
  • Inform and support development of Trade launch materials.
  • Support field teams and address Trade related inquiries and issue.
  • Beyond distribution, identify and present potential opportunities to leverage other parts of Trade partner's business, assets, tools and resources that align with and support Meitheal's business and brand strategy goals and objectives.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on channel activity and data to help identify trends, obstacles and opportunities.
  • Work closely with Director, Trade Operations and Channel Analytics to monitor business and trouble shoot and address Trade-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and other internal teams on existing and new product forecasts, product inventory, product dating, return risks, GtN exposure and other distribution related areas.
  • Attend key Trade conferences (i.e. HDMA, Asembia, among others) to monitor industry trends, engage with customers and expand network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MS or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years' relative experience in Trade and Distribution in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • 4+ managing Trade customers including one or more of the Big 3 wholesalers representing branded products with biosimilar preferred.
  • Proven track record in developing strategic relationships and negotiating competitive rates/fees and contracting terms.
  • New product launch experience of branded, specialty and biosimilar products preferred.
  • Specialty Pharmacy account management experience a plus.
  • Self-starting leader with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities Demonstrated business acumen, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Anticipate industry trends to ensure competitive positioning in the broader healthcare landscape.
  • Strong collaborator and demonstrated experience in influencing stakeholders to support strategic decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Trade Channels, Class of Trade, FMV, and trade terms that impact profitability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
