Position Highlights |
Pima County Cooperative Extension within the Division of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Cooperative Extension of the University of Arizona seeks to fill the role of Community Outreach Professional II. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate administration for Pima County Cooperative Extension's The Garden Kitchen (GK) program. The responsibilities of this position include coordination of financials and travel GK team, implementation of social media and website program plans, creating annual reporting data, and monitoring evaluation of programs. This position also assists in the creation and implements teaching and administration of adult and child hands-on cooking classes. Duties & Responsibilities |
Administration
- Coordination of financials and travel authorizations for the GK team, including purchasing card reconciliation, disbursement vouchers, per diem calculation, Eventbrite and PLAZA mobile market financial management.
- Creates annual reporting data, and monitors evaluation of programs.
- Monitoring and corresponding with the public via general voice mail and email for The Garden Kitchen, IT assistance and connection for the GK team, asset tracking, and maintaining branding standards of funders.
- May assist with drafting grant proposals.
Outreach
- Implements social media and website program plans.
- Develops communications materials to promote programs in communities.
- Updates layout and content for The Garden Kitchen's website and collaborates with website developers on new features. Designs fliers and graphics for programs and events.
- Designs promotional information for hands-on classes.
- Submits program and event information to local media outlets.
- Collaborates with local media outlets to promote programs and events through articles, community e-mails, and other avenues. Maintains brand standards for all of the above.
Delivery
- Provides support for hands-on culinary program coordination - overseeing schedules, class components, registration, and evaluation support.
- Leads developing handouts and content for program for children and families. Coordinates communication with participants in the hands-on culinary program.
- Collects, enters and updates data systems to assist in evaluating programs and services and identifies needs for additional programs or services.
- Delivers programming with colleagues at The Garden Kitchen facility and/or at partner sites.
Additional Programming
- Additional programming will be performed such as: gardening in the GK community garden, cleaning the commercial kitchen facilities, creating community gardens at partner sites and/or additional programming as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information.
- Knowledge of cooking and nutrition.
- Skill in public speaking and presenting information to diverse groups.
- Knowledge of account principles.
- Ability to organize large quantities of information.
- Ability to keep meticulous records.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be able to obtain a food manager's certification upon employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
