Volunteer Services Coordinator

For one year, you can get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands-on experience and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?


The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

  • Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday to support work on the build site.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.
  • Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.
  • Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.
  • Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.

This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Activities and attractions: Baltimore is a historical city with notable locations such as the Baltimore Museum of Art, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum, The Baltimore Museum of Industry and Fort McHenry. The Inner Harbor, waterfront and downtown neighborhoods offer great restaurants and bars, concert and entertainment venues, as well as the Aquarium and Science Center. Baltimore is an active city with lots of green space, parks, trails and water access to keep residents outdoors all year round. The city is situated in a fantastic location that places the mountains, the beach, Washington DC, Philadelphia and NY all within just a few hours' drive.
  • Unique projects: The volunteer services coordinator will have the opportunity to assist in the development of a volunteer newsletter in a cooperative effort with our marketing/communications department to enhance the volunteer experience and further engage our volunteers with the mission. They will have the opportunity to assist in the design and content as this will be a new initiative for the organization. As the primary individual focused on our volunteer appreciation plan, the volunteer services coordinator will be able to plan the two annual recognition/appreciation events for our key volunteers and overall volunteers. Our organization is seeking to enhance the volunteer pool for ReStores by continuing to develop relationships with faith organizations and retirement communities and the volunteer services coordinator will be able to play a key role in this initiative.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
