Overview

The ISD Tester III is a Test Engineer who performs integration, regression and functional testing on systems while ensuring compliance with Navy Federal business system requirements, practices, and policies. May lead test teams in designing test approaches and methods that utilize test automation technologies and align with waterfall and/or agile methodologies. Assists in the analysis of functional and technical requirements and the creation and editing of test cases for new or modified systems. Performs moderately complex/varied tasks with limited latitude and moderate scope.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as test lead on projects as needed
  • Lead test analysis or assist Test Analysts to certify system testing completion in support of production deployment requests
  • Create and edit test cases in accordance with system requirements
  • Create, modify and/or locate the application specific data needed to execute test cases
  • Identify areas for testing process improvement
  • Modify, coordinate and schedule data input to maintain the test environments
  • Document testing activities including testing time spent/lost, defects/bugs, defect rates, and detected discrepancies in requirements, and recommend defect resolution prioritization
  • Run test automation for systems under test, perform test automation failure analysis, correct failure sources, and re-execute to ensure test completion
  • Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication of material
  • Drive testing activities to align with agile methodologies while participating in all agile ceremonies
  • Serve as subject matter expert regarding business functions, systems, policies and/or procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of managing software testing in Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Knowledge of testing and data tools including Azure Boards, Azure Test Plans, Azure Pipelines, SoapUI, Postman, and SQL
  • Knowledge writing test plans and test cases, and managing defects
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and methods
  • Familiarity with development and test frameworks/methodologies including waterfall and agile Test Development Life Cycles and Systems Development Life Cycles
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience testing complex systems on a variety of on-premise and cloud platforms
  • Experience testing mainframe and web applications, APIs, and Integrated Voice Response (IVR) systems
  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective skill clearly presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL)
  • ISTQB Advanced level certifications (Agile Testing, Test Analyst, Test Manager)
  • Certification in Agile Frameworks (e.g., Leading SAFe, Scrum)
