Identify, sort, load and unload material to and/or from storage areas to various locations as required. Material selection of all car repair parts as indicated on repair estimates. Inventory control processes such as cycle counting and physical inventory.



Responsibilities

    Select car repair materials and process estimates using various systems (SAP, MMS, MRP, Tails Database, and Drawings)
  • Update daily material disbursements, material receipts and/or returns using MMS/SAP systems. Process material add-ons and/or supplements.
  • Unload and load incoming and outgoing freight. Includes proper identification including proper packaging, shipping papers.
  • Daily cycle counts, inventory reconciliation on out bounded cars.
  • Stack and sort material at work area to maintain a neat and orderly storage area.
  • Operate material moving equipment including but not limited to forklift and crane.
  • Communicate with supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Comply with the established safety policies, support-continuing awareness for safety, and when possible recommend specific changes and improvements to health and safety policies and programs.


Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as IO instructions, FM instructions, work orders, and AAR Field Manual.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide two digit numbers.
  • Ability to reason through and plan work details and procedures to obtain desired results.
  • Knowledgeable of AAR regulations and railcar repairs is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer knowledge and strong communication skills.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.

**Physical Requirements**

  • Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
  • Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to safely lift (vertically) up to 51 pounds, regularly, and safely lift up to 85 pounds, occassionally, from the ground surface.
  • Must be able to push/pull (horizontally) up to 140 pounds of force.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments.
  • Must be able to physically enter confined space and work in enclosed environments.

As of March 14, 2025, the hourly rate for this position is $28.26. The rate for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

You may be eligible to participate in the Attendance (PTO) Incentive as well as a Safety and Quality Performance Incentive Plan, the details of which may be provided to the applicant upon hire.
