Overview:

Veeco's St. Paul, MN, is currently seeking a talentedManufacturingTechnician with strong technical skillsandinterest in high-tech, complex systemsto join ourOperations team. This role will primarily work as part of a production team to build, test and troubleshoot complex mechanical systems for custom capital equipment customers. Coordinate with project managers, electrical technicians, and engineers to complete multi-month equipment builds on time and meet all quality expectations both as a personal contributor and as a build team member. Veeco MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy) designs, builds, sells and supports equipment that enables leading-edge technologies in the semiconductor, solar, telecommunications, aerospace and defense, and other related industries.

Responsibilities:



  • Assemble, test and troubleshoot highly complicated Ultra High Vacuum systems through a multi-month build from the first bolt to final shipment to the customer
  • Utilize technical capability to assemble these complex systems and precision sub-assemblies using process documentation, bill of materials, CAD and assembly drawings, schematics, pictures/diagrams, and work instructions
  • Inspect and test systems and sub-assemblies and finished products to ensure that they meet required specifications, and troubleshooting/problem solving to rectify any problems identified during the test process
  • Work independently and with a team of other technicians, project managers and engineers to ensure each system meets the customer's quality and schedule expectations
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to improve system design, manufacturability, performance, and quality
  • Use system software interface to test, configure and control the system's performance
  • Providedailystatus against scheduleand highlight issues that arise during the build
  • Document and correct quality issues, record all deviations and modifications from the original design



Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience is required. Associate's Degree in a technical program preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Experience in assembling complex systems that use a wide variety of technologies
  • Advancedmechanical and electro-mechanicaltroubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with vacuum equipment(cryo, turbo pumps) and roboticsexperience a plus
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to perform general physical activities, as well as the ability to lift 40 lbs.



The expected salary range for this position is $35,696 - $45,216, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
