Part-Time
Nurse Practitioner
needed for specialty clinic in San Jose, CA to provide professional nursing care for pediatric and adult patients following established standards and practices.

Schedule

Wed evenings, Thursday, & every other Saturday.
Must be available to do Wednesday 4p or 5p until 730-8p. Also, need to be able to do every other Saturday 830am-1230pm. Thursday would be a good day for an 8-hour shift to train with the Physicians to learn Potential to float to different local, close by locations to cover different Physicians.

  • Training schedule would be around 12 hours one week (Wed 4p-8p, Thurs 8a-430p), and around 16 hours the next week (Wed 4p-8p, Thurs 8a-430p, Sat 830a-1230p).
  • Potential to go perm and work up to 30 hours



Experience preferences:

* Prefer FNP - will be working with peds and adults
* They have primary care experience
* Experience with emergency - anaphylaxis is very helpful

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient records.
  • Checks in with clients about test results and prognoses.
  • Advises patients regarding prescriptions and treatment plans.
  • Follows all federal, state, and nursing guidelines, regulations, and standards.
  • Order and interprets diagnostic tests, including x-rays, blood work and scans.
  • Refers patients to specialists if necessary and analyzes medical records and reports.
  • Updates patient charts and uploads to Electronic Health Record (EHR) software.
  • Works with a team of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and doctors to provide quality patient care.
  • Examines patients, including discussing medical history and symptoms and performing physicals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by physicians.



EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

EXPERIENCE:
One year of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
  • California State Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse licenses.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric or Adult
  • National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited agency.



SKILLS:
  1. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.
  2. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
  3. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  4. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  5. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 lbs. Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
