THE POSITION

The Presque Isle State Park Complex is currently looking to hire a Custodial Worker 2. This role involves engaging in hands-on tasks related to the upkeep and cleanliness of the entire Presque Isle State Park Complex, which encompasses both Erie Bluffs State Park and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role entails responsibilities that are typically carried out seven days a week, with a schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays based on event requirements or seasonal demands. The individual in this position acts as the lead worker overseeing a small team of park custodial staff, as designated by a supervisor or manager. This includes evaluating the team's work to ensure compliance with established job standards. Additionally, the role involves training new custodial employees in the appropriate cleaning techniques and materials relevant to their tasks. The cleaning duties encompass maintaining both public and employee areas within park facilities, which includes washing, waxing, dusting, and polishing various surfaces such as floors, walls, ceilings, stairwells, furniture, and fixtures. The custodian is responsible for sweeping or vacuuming floors and stairwells, as well as shampooing carpets when necessary. Restroom sanitation is also a critical task, requiring thorough cleaning of toilets, urinals, sinks, and fixtures, along with restocking supplies like toilet paper and soap. Waste management is part of the role, involving the collection of trash and recyclables for proper disposal. The custodian is expected to wash windows, remove cobwebs, and ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored correctly. They are also responsible for requisitioning and distributing cleaning materials while monitoring their usage. Seasonal tasks may include snow shoveling, sweeping, and maintaining the cleanliness of walkways and building entrances. The role may require moving furniture and equipment as directed, reporting any necessary repairs to supervisors, and cleaning the interiors and exteriors of park vehicles. The custodian operates a pickup truck or utility vehicle to transport cleaning supplies throughout the park and is tasked with replacing light bulbs and performing minor repairs, or reporting larger repair needs to a supervisor. Litter collection along roadways and around buildings is also part of the job, ensuring that the park environment remains tidy and welcoming.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal Full-time employment without benefits.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week- 7-day operation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Custodial Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
  • One year of experience performing custodial work.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
