Description

The Director of Ambulatory Operations, Perioperative Service Line, works under the directions of the Executive Director of Perioperative services for clinical care and the Executive Center Director of Surgical Care for business and strategy. The Director is accountable for working collaboratively with the SVP Chief Nursing Officer, Surgeon in Chief, and the Center for Surgical Care. The position will oversee both ambulatory surgery centers and be responsible for strategic plans, objectives, and standards supporting clinical operations, ambulatory surgical nursing, and sterile processing. The Director of Ambulatory Operations, Perioperative Service Line will direct and coordinate the work of designated employees, manage personnel activities to meet departmental, hospital, and system objectives related to the provision of patient care within designated clinical areas, and create a smooth, efficient, and satisfying experience for patients, employees, and physicians associated with each service line.

This Director must understand all aspects of developing ambulatory surgery centers, including planning, hiring, leading, and offering new and exciting opportunities and technology in surgical care.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
7 years previous work experience as a clinical nurse including OR or PACU experience (Required) And
5 years managerial experience (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • In collaboration with administrative leadership, develop a strategic and operational plan for the assigned clinical area(s); ensure service lines align with the mission, vision, strategic plan and initiatives of CNH. Communicate and continuously evaluate plans.


  • Accountable for the attainment of departmental goals and objectives, level of performance to ensure quality patient care, administration of personnel, and the fiscal responsibilities. Facilitates and promotes the implementation of new practice standards, policies, and clinical workflows.


  • Develop and communicate a vision for unit care delivery models and facilitate ongoing refinement of such models. Apply clinical knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration to plan and evaluate nursing standards and practice; to help direct clinical practice management in the procurement and deployment of resources.


  • Maintain interface with departmental personnel to coordinate clinical operational activities to ensure adequate staffing, space and facilities, coordination of purchasing, maintenance, and renovation activities for the operational areas, an administer a program of property management and accountability.


  • Participate it the development of an annual business plan each fiscal year to include financial, operating and capital objectives focused on growth of ambulatory surgical volumes and service lines.


  • Works collaboratively with physicians to adopt and incorporate quality initiatives, understand economic considerations and increase physician, surgery center, and hospital alignment.


  • Serve as clinical operational liaison with administrative and professional personnel concerning unit/departmental/hospital policies and procedures, personnel administration, and budgetary preparation and control.


  • Ensures compliance of regulatory and performance improvement programs.


  • Provide developmental and growth opportunities for direct reports.


  • Ensure safe environment of care for all staff, patients, and families.


  • Ensure effective processes for staff development, recruitment and retention for all units within the service line


  • Develop and support unit, shared governance structure. Assures staff participation in departmental and Organizational Nursing Structures


  • Provide overall direction and leadership for assigned clinical areas on a 24-hour basis; ensure the effective administrative management of clinical functions related to personnel and policy.
