Job Summary
The Material Management Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of material and equipment management within the construction site, warehouse, laydown yard, and storage locations. This role ensures efficient material flow, proper tracking in SiteSense material management software, and adherence to safety and organizational standards. The Foreman will direct a team responsible for receiving, issuing, and maintaining materials and equipment to support project operations.

Responsibilities

Warehouse, Laydown Yard, and Storage Organization & Cleanliness
Maintain a well-organized, clean, and efficient warehouse, laydown yard, and storage locations to ensure easy access and inventory accuracy.
Implement and enforce housekeeping standards to prevent hazards, material loss, or inefficiencies.
Ensure proper labeling and storage of materials according to specifications and safety regulations.
Coordinate material staging for upcoming work to reduce downtime and improve workflow.
Material & Equipment Receiving & Issuance
Oversee the receiving process, verifying material and equipment against purchase orders and packing slips.
Assign and direct daily tasks for material handlers related to unloading, inspecting, and stocking materials.
Ensure accurate issuance of materials to site teams, tracking withdrawals and preventing loss or misplacement.
Work closely with procurement, project managers, and field supervisors to ensure timely availability of required materials.
Coordination with Construction Teams
Communicate with superintendents, foremen, and craft workers to forecast material needs and adjust inventory accordingly.
Proactively identify material shortages or delays and coordinate with procurement to expedite shipments.
Assist in jobsite logistics planning, ensuring materials are available where and when needed.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and project-specific safety guidelines regarding material handling and storage.
Conduct daily safety inspections of storage areas, ensuring proper securing, stacking, and transportation of materials.
Train and enforce the correct use of lifting, rigging, and material handling equipment.
Personnel & Leadership Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of warehouse workers and material handlers, ensuring efficient workflow.
Provide on-the-job training to improve material handling efficiency and accuracy.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to company policies.
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 5+ years in material management, warehouse operations, or industrial construction logistics.
Software Knowledge: Experience using SiteSense or similar material management software is preferred.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of inventory control, material staging, and equipment tracking.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage high-volume material flow in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication with various teams.
Leadership: Experience supervising a team in a construction or warehouse setting.
Safety Certifications: OSHA 30 preferred; forklift and rigging certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate forklifts or material handling equipment.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to walk, stand, and work on uneven surfaces for extended periods.

HOURS:

This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to projects requirements.

TRAVEL:

Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.
