General Description A Dump Truck Driver is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that, for the majority of the time, and is responsible for the safe operation of a CMV Dump Truck, to transport materials to/from identified pick-up and drop off locations. Key Duties
- Hold valid Class "B or C" CDL license and personal driving record within company MVR policy.
- Required to obtain and hold approved medical examiners certificate (FMCSR part 391.41), for duration of employment and in accordance with Class "B/C" CDL License requirements.
- Safe and Efficient operation of CMV Dump Truck; including operation on public and private roadways.
- Familiarity with applicable FMCSA and USDOT safety and operation regulations.
- Visually assess material in dump and, where applicable, secure/reposition/adjust contents, to ensure secured load, for safe transport.
- Ability to visually and physically inspect the mechanical, safety and operational components, for operating defects; including completion of Pre/Post trip Driver Vehicle Inspection Report(s).
- During Operation, visually interpret vehicle indicator(s) for fluid levels including oil, water and fuel.
- Perform pre-shift safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to vehicle before operation
- Responsible for notifying supervisor if vehicle needs to be repaired
- Communicates verbally, with Dispatch and/or Supervisor, on frequent basis.
- Interpret and Follow Dispatched Routing/Map(s), for pick up and/or delivery of materials.
- Responsible for notifying supervisor, immediately, if vehicle is in need of repair(s).
- Able to work day or night shifts as required
- Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts.

This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Roll-off Driver.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
- A minimum of one year (1) Dump Truck or other CMV Driving experience required.
Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Frequent sitting and driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle; using hands, arms and legs/feet to safely maneuver and control the vehicle using a steering wheel, turn signal, horn, foot pedals and other operational controls.
- Periodic standing and walking on typically hard, level surfaces, to conduct visual assessments of material loads, drop off areas and general vehicle walk-around inspections.
- Stepping up/down, approx. 2', using access step(s) and three points of contact to access/egress to/from the vehicle cab, periodically throughout the day.
- Frequent use of hands, to operate tarp control (either electric or manual).
- Frequent vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter).
- Infrequent ability to push/pull/lift/Turn, up to 25 lbs weight; including opening of Dump Truck Hood and Open/Close Tail Gate.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Dump Truck Driver encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites or equipment shop such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
