Proposal Analyst - Social Healthcare and Public Entities
Job ID: 95980

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
In this role, you will support proposal operations and development for the North America (NA) Public Sector practice and proposal team.
For proposal team operations, you will manage the new opportunity registration process by verifying intake sheets and solicitation documents, and inputting proposal details into our Salesforce tracker. You will also oversee Salesforce proposal data across NA Public Sector, ensuring updates and quality control, and assist with managing the NA Proposal Team's shared email inbox by responding to internal requests and escalating issues when necessary.
In proposal management, you will provide comprehensive or on-demand support for Requests for Information (RFIs) and select proposals. This includes setting up proposal development materials, addressing knowledge management queries, preparing proposal outlines and compliance matrices, performing desktop publishing tasks, and coordinating physical proposal submissions. You will also build expertise in public sector proposal management processes and procurement rules, taking on more complex tasks over time.
For reporting, you will handle various reporting needs, including the weekly leadership report and other regular or ad hoc proposal data reports, to ensure actionable insights are shared with NA Public Sector practice leadership and global proposal team stakeholders.
In knowledge management, you will update and maintain the knowledge repository, including archived materials, best practices, and standard content for proposals.
For firm building, you will seek opportunities to incorporate the firm's broader capabilities into public sector proposals, support team members, celebrate successes, and participate in local office and global practice initiatives. You will adhere to relevant procedures for all proposal materials and processes, ensuring proper file structure, archiving, and backup.
Your Growth
You will join our Washington DC office as part of the NA Public Sector Proposal Team, with a focus on supporting McKinsey's client service to the US Federal, State, and Local Government. The NA Proposal Team is part of several firm organizations and networks, including McKinsey's global proposal services function, which represents a large network of enthusiastic proposal professionals that support different regions and sectors across the globe.
You will collaborate with practice and proposal function leadership, proposal team members colleagues as well as other functions (e.g., consultants, operations colleagues) to shape our thinking on proposal best practices and operational efficiencies to drive continuous improvement. Day-to-day you will work with other members of the proposal team, a multidisciplinary team of colleagues supporting the internal operations of the US Government Practice, and various internal Client Service Teams (CSTs).
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in a proposal management, capture management, or business development role at a US Government contractor or consulting firm that serves the US Government
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel); advanced MS Word skillset preferred
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, SharePoint) preferred
  • Shipley and/or APMP training or certification preferred
  • Proven project management skills; strong conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal (e.g., ability to synthesize and convey complex information clearly and compellingly)
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Results-oriented; entrepreneurial and self-driven
  • Collaborative; able to build relationships and influence stakeholders across roles and levels
  • US Citizenship required
