Substation SCADA Engineer required to join collaborative engineering culture in Orange and Rockland Engineering. The work allows for broad, diverse experience managing small to large projects that allow engineers to learn and be challenged.SCADA Engineer: Under limited supervision (Senior Engineer) of the Senior Electrical Engineer or Manager of Transmission and Substation Engineering, performs development of O&R's Transmission and distribution substations including the installation, problem solving, testing and commissioning of Remote terminal Units (RTU), Transformer monitoring, SCADA Metering and Revenue metering. This position will be responsible for coordinating efforts with ECC, Electric Operations, Substation Operations, Telecom, IT etc.Engineer will serve on committees as required as well as attend and represent the Company at industry meetings.

- Substation SCADA Engineers major responsibilities include SCADA system design for existing and new substations that includes but not limited to RTU, Digital and Analog Input/Outputs, Annunciator, meters, breaker controls and transformer monitoring. Develop RTU settings and Logic design, use different types of communication used for SCADA. Review SCADA upgrade drawings. Prepare sketches to be used as the design guide for the Design Drafters in the preparation construction drawings. Perform preliminary Engineering cost estimates. Performs field walk and provide support before, during and after construction.
- Attend departmental meetings and serves on committees as required.
- Ensure that the department is kept up-to-date on the progress of projects, including the update of the Budget.
- Keep informed of the industry and keeps up to date with the latest developments in the Substation Engineering field. Will possess and maintain familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NESC standards applicable to substation design along with NERC/FERC regulatory standards.
- Participates in the Companys Emergency Response Plan through a designated storm assignment.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and 3-5 years of engineering work experience in substation engineering work or related operations experience (Engineer-O&R).
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience related substation SCADA design experience required.
- Experience and/or knowledge of substation layout and major equipment including breakers, switches, and Transformers required.
- Ability to interpret layout, one-line, and schematic drawings, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, technical and computer skills, required.
- Ability to apply good individual judgment, initiative, creativity and decision making in the handling of assignments, required.
- Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards and National Electrical Safety Code, required.

Additional Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Requires working in and around substations under construction and/or in service
- Must be able to work in an overheard and underground network distribution environment
- Must be available to work rotating shifts and/or extended hours as operational needs and/or emergencies dictate
