Moog Military Aircraft has an immediate opening for a Test Systems Engineer to join our team to support over the effectiveness of the overall test system design (architecture, interfaces and control algorithms) to support customer needs. Reporting to our Test Systems Section Head. You will havea 9/80 schedule option and work onsite in Torrance, CA.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering

  • 5 years or more of progressive experience in the field of Aero Test Systems EngineeringEquivalent years of experience outside of Aero Test Systems Engineering will be considered

  • Capabilities/competencies in Requirements Management, Verification and Validation Methods, Control System Design, Integration and Test

  • Capabilities/competencies in Building Strategic Working Relationships, Planning and Organizing, Customer Focus

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering

  • Experience in the aerospace or other highly regulated industry

As a Test System Engineer, you will:

  • Define and manage test system requirements, defining system architectures through system signal maps/interface drawings, exercising physics-based models of the system, supporting other design functions with the decomposition and allocation of requirements, and supporting the integration and test of the resulting test system.

  • Guide the test system development through your knowledge of the system as a whole, its operational objectives, the subsystem operation, and interfaces, and the technical, financial and schedule constraints.

  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its strong technical reputation.

  • Operate as a contributing member of a team of creative, independent individuals (1-4 Test Systems Engineers).

  • Contribute and participate in training seminars on key technologies and design methods for fellow Moog engineers.

  • Support the functional analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into test hardware and software specifications. Effectively communicate these internal design requirements to other members of the design/project team.

  • Create test system level models, design tools and simulations necessary to support trade studies (design trade-off) and define architecture solutions during early business development efforts and/or life-cycle development.

  • Support the identification and definition of all Verification and Validation approaches for the test system or subsystem.

  • Facilitate the development of subsystem-level requirements that are fully traceable to system level requirements. Write specifications to capture these requirements.

  • Lead test system or subsystem level integration and testing, including anomaly investigations.

  • Create concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe design decisions and analysis results.

  • Support the preparation of successful proposals. Contributions include test system level architecture, verification and validation approaches, component level design requirements, requirements compliance assessment, cost estimates and technical write-ups.

  • Coordinate / gather / facilitate design requirements generated across other design functions and other Moog sites.

  • Significant support of STE design engineer to ensure proper verification and validation approach is utilized.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $100,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
