Job Summary

This position involves performing scientific research work in testing ways to improve Machine Learning performance in a wide range of problems based on learning from hints, in particular, the use of virtual examples and dynamic schedules. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Abu Mostafa Research Group on this short-term project.

Essential Job Duties

  • Organize, plan, and conduct complex theoretical and experimental research in the use of hints in Machine Learning.
  • Apply scientific knowledge to develop the full algorithm for using Generative Adversarial Networks to generate virtual examples for training neural-network models.
  • Investigate, analyze, and interpret the use of dynamic schedules in learning from hints.
  • Utilize Kaggle competitions to test the algorithm's performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Thorough technical/scientific expertise in Machine Learning theory and algorithms.
  • Advanced Machine Learning project experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and proficiency in Python programming.
  • Facility with Caltech's High-Performance Computing.

Hiring Range

$23.50 to $30.25 per hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
