What you will do The Senior Project Engineer supports and takes a lead role in the qualification, development, engineering construction, and commissioning and startup phases of wastewater and/or bioenergy projects. Under general direction of the Wastewater & Bioenergy team, within Sustainable Infrastructure, the Wastewater & Bioenergy Specialist will contribute as a member of the project development team and is responsible for providing technical engineering support to secure capital projects through infrastructure-as-a-service projects, P3 delivery methods, design-build contracts, and performance contracts. This role supports and manages every step from proposal development through project execution. The Wastewater & Bioenergy Specialist functions as the primary technical expert and development resource, which includes vetting of project feasibility, managing the design development, overseeing the engineering process and detailed designs, setting quality controls around specifications and drawings, assisting operations leaders with construction contract writing and design questions during construction, providing technical support to the sales and local engineering team, developing project business cases and cost estimates, and conveying technical presentations to customers. A strong understanding of wastewater, digester gas, and landfill gas opportunities is preferred. In addition, the Wastewater & Bioenergy Specialist will also assist in utility interconnection coordination, seeking incentives, identifying biogas monetization strategies, and maintaining a key network of partners in engineering firms, manufacturing firms, professional associations, and other necessary ecosystem players. What we look for Bachelor's degree in civil / environmental engineering, or related wastewater field with five to ten years' experience in wastewater and energy projects (biosolids, biogas-to-energy, and renewable natural gas experience preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. Knowledge about national regulations for the design of renewable energies, waste treatment, and biogas plants is preferred. Proficiency in biogas and landfill gas treatment process design and operations required. An understanding and knowledge of planning, development, design, and construction related to resource recovery including biosolids, reclaimed water, and biogas desired, including utility interconnections, aeration and pump system design, and solids handling scopes of work. Strong entrepreneurial interest and experience engaging clients to identify and win new projects. Exceptional critical thinking skills. Strong technical and professional writing skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience conveying technical presentations to clients and regulators. Valid driving license.
