This position offers a hybrid work schedule with a combination of onsite and remote work. California Sea Grant is a statewide program and the largest in a national network of 34 Sea Grant programs operating in all coastal, Great Lakes states, and territories. The primary mission of California Sea Grant is to provide integrated research, extension, outreach, and education to help Californians balance diverse interests that intersect with the coastal and marine environments, and adapt to changing conditions and needs. We accomplish this by sponsoring marine research, extension services, and education activities and collaborating with a range of local, state, regional, national, and international partners to further the acquisition and application of relevant scientific knowledge. POSITION DESCRIPTIONUnder primary direction of the Research Program Supervisor, the Program Coordinator will support and facilitate projects and meetings for the California Sea Grant College Program (CASG) and Extension Program (SGEP). The SGEP consists of a statewide team with diverse areas of expertise focusing on environmental stewardship, sustainable, long-term economic development, and responsible use of California's resources. California Sea Grant extension specialists work with state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and members of the California coastal community to identify emerging marine resource problems and opportunities, conduct applied scientific research, and share findings with stakeholder groups. Supports the leadership team in coordinating the development, operation and administrative activities of CASG and SGEP's projects and programs. Position has broad responsibilities to provide planning and program support of the SGEP at the direction of the SGEP Director and will play a key role providing day-to-day operations. Maintains effective communications and engagement with extension specialists, other units within California Sea Grant, and a diverse range of local, regional community and institutional partners to effectively support program activities. Coordinates in-person and virtual meetings for teams of 35+ people; represents the program within the Sea Grant Network and to the general public; and supports development of projects and work plans for the SGEP and broader Sea Grant program. Supports the leadership team in recruitment and hiring for the SGEP, as well as during special events, including coordinating and implementing logistics for program advisory groups, strategic planning, and site reviews. May support the Director and SGEP Director in conducting community engagement, coalition building, and community-based policy and systems work. Facilitates gathering information and data to support CASG and SGEP planning, reporting, and presentations. Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies of moderate scope to support CASG to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues within the unit. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are moderately complex in nature and in scope, as well as supports the development of new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation. Works with the Communications team to develop improved outreach materials and communications for CASG and the SGEP. Participates as a member of the broader Science Integration Team: attending staff meetings and providing support for special events and projects as assigned. Supports research and education programs as part of the Science Integration Team, including the pre-award (application, peer review, selection) and post-award (communications, meetings) processes. Through a broad knowledge of the program, integrates the SGEP with fiscal / education / research parts of the program, and improve communications and cohesion of the SGEP. Other duties as assigned. Fulfills primary responsibility for a specific area of research within a broader research grant program initiative, and develops knowledge about and remains current with the program's focus areas as well as community issues. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
