About the Opportunity:
The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) be responsible for achieving the defined territory sales targets (volume, product-mix and margin) whilst maximising profitability through effective territory planning and organisation of the sales pipeline. Promote our business and support customers, new and existing and position Oxford Instruments as the preferred partner.
This individual will work closely with the North America Sales Manager to build territory action plans which will provide a clear path to sales success as well as partner with Service, Marketing, Applications, and numerous other Oxford Business Unit sales reps in this pursuit.
In addition, the TSM is required to properly manage CRM ensuring all required fields are completed, the information is current and up to date, and sales funnel information (such as close dates and dollars) is accurate. The TSM will travel as needed, both within and outside of the assigned territory - including internationally, to attend various meetings, trainings, tradeshows, and conventions.
This is a remote position based anywhere in the US, covering mostly the Mid West region. Frequent travel is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate the appropriate level of sales activity and achieve agreed financial targets within the territory
- Identify new business opportunities and take appropriate action
- Follow up any new enquiries promptly and efficiently
- Generate opportunities, explore the customer needs and present the right solution. Negotiate and win orders
- Build and maintain relationships with our customer base: use these relationships to develop an extensive knowledge of customers' applications and research networks
- Maintain contact with the North America Sales Manager, ensuring that they're kept aware of progress, opportunities and developments
- Work with OI Marketing to actively promote our products within your territory, suggesting and implementing marketing strategies to increase our visibility and presence in the market
- Manage the company response to incoming bid requests, providing the technical input and coordinating input from colleagues from other functions to ensure we submit a high-quality proposal on time
- Gather and provide feedback to the company on our current products, and provide market, product and competitor intelligence
- Work with service team to provide fast and professional response to customer issues.
The RIGHT Candidate will have the following qualificaitons:
- A degree in a relevant technical field, not limited to physics or materials science
- Desirable - knowledge and practical use of Miller Heiman Sales Training
- Mid-level to experienced technical sales professional with proven experience in technical high value capital equipment sales
- Business Level English
- Ideally will have worked in a role with academic and industrial customer base
- Ability to work remotely and travel 50% within territory and to attend regional meetings, national and international meetings outside of your territory as required
- Ability to learn OI products, applications and technology with ease and pace
- Excellent communication and works well as part of a team and provides support to others when necessary
- Cultural Awareness - Aware that other cultures have different interaction styles and respond positively
- Desire to improve self professionally and is committed, flexible and has a positive attitude to work
- Decision Making - Able to analyse a situation and know when a decision is required
