Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Manager Core Services - Animal Care department within the Office for Research. The Senior Manager facilitates implementation of core management software and support business operations across all recognized Rutgers Research Core Facilities.

The Office for Research's mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Serves as a liaison between the core management software Customer Success Team and numerous Rutgers core directors to ensure efficient and organized execution of software training and website set-up.
  • Ensures smooth transition to new core management system by generating training material for all software users.
  • Ensures core compliance with University-Wide Core Service policies and procedures.
  • Expects to become an expert user in the core management software system and serve as the primary Rutgers University point of contact for all software-related issues, including account discrepancies originating from software, transactions not posting to Oracle, and fund file errors.
  • Handles business process recommendations and designs, developments, functions and project management.
  • Reviews of integration and interfaces for maximum efficiency.
  • Handles recommendations for improvement and upgrades.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related professional experience in a financial/operations function.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Broad skills in financial process development, administration, or compliance.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have project management and organizational skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication ability.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to new and facility specific programs such as Agilent iLab and Oracle Cloud FMS and strong overall computer literacy.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and other project management software skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree or certification in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Project Management and/or Program Coordination experience.
  • Experience using the Agilent iLab System or similar software.
  • Experience with training adult learners
  • Experience scheduling/managing advisory group meetings
  • Familiarity with the operations of Core Facilities at academic institutions.
  • Oracle Cloud experience.
  • Familiarity with the operations of Core Facilities at academic institutions.
  • Knowledge of encumbrance accounting, project accounting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing projects of medium to large scale and implemented change initiatives as a subject-matter expert within a specified product or process area.
  • Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles as they relate to grants management.
