POSITION SCOPE

A Concrete Pump Operator, also known as a concrete pumper, is a skilled laborer who operates and maintains concrete pumps and equipment at construction sites. The operator shall be responsible for the operation of a concrete pump truck from driving to and from the job site, operation of the pump and keeping the equipment clean and in good operating condition. The safety of himself as well as all others is paramount. As such, the operator will be required to continually educate and improve their knowledge of all facets of concrete pumping. The operator is expected to be a quality representative of the Company and must have the ability to relate with customers in a professional, responsible manner. Because this is a highly competitive business, the hours worked will be irregular with many last-minute changes. An operator must be flexible to the needs of the Company and its customers.

Individuals must possess a valid Class B CDL for this position. Prior driving experience and attention to detail are a must to ensure pre-trip and post-trip DOT standards are met, concrete pumps are operated safely, and quality service is provided to our clients.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Pre-trip inspections of concrete pumps pursuant to DOT regulations including checking fluid levels, brakes, hydraulic systems and other driver operated controls
  • Check the valves and fill the water tank before each project
  • Safely drives concrete pumps to project sites as assigned and work with contractors to set up pumps in a safe position.
  • Use map book and driving experience to take the most direct route to job site to ensure on-time service
  • Pump concrete pursuant to customer desire with respect to yards per hour in safest manner.
  • Upon completion, the operator will clean out pump systems in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Keep pump dispatch informed as to status of projects via two-way radio, digital pagers, and cellular phones, if available
  • Prior to leaving the job site, driver is responsible for completing all paperwork and collection of monies if necessary
  • Each operator is expected to perform a post-trip inspection of concrete pump pursuant to DOT standards and communicate any needed repairs to maintenance immediately
  • Each operator is responsible to call callout each day for starting time
  • If not billed out on a pump and called to work, operator may be asked to work or clean on pump, assist at a batch or perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned



REQUIREMENTS



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of Concrete Pumping Experience Required
  • Valid CDL Driver's License (Class B Required) and clean driving record
  • 1 year Driving Preferred
  • Possess valid DOT medical card
  • 1 year Boom Pump Operation Preferred
  • Must possess good manual dexterity to climb on and around the pump truck in all weather conditions common to the area of the country
  • Be able to read and understand equipment manuals and safety manuals
  • Knowledge of concrete pumps and some mechanics involved to keep the pumps in good running order
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical problems
  • Exceptional directional skills
  • Must possess the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to tolerate seated posture for long periods of time while driving concrete pump truck from one location to another
  • Be able to tolerate working environments with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs.
