The Community Impact Lead plays a pivotal role in driving strategic outreach efforts to enhance the company's engagement with community partners. This position leads the activation of community partnerships and aligning community presence with business strategy. The role also includes building alliances with various community groups, managing volunteer programs in the community, and partnering with HR to implement employee engagement initiatives aligned to community impact strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the activation of Community Impact partnerships for AES Indiana, including coordination of programming with various civic and community meetings and activities

  • Assist with the development of the Community Impact vision, including investment strategy, for AES Indiana

  • Align community presence and community engagement with business strategy to ensure focus on customer and workforce of the future

  • Build relationships and alliances with various civic, minority, and neighborhood groups

  • Develop and execute Company volunteer programs, including AES Indiana Day in the Parks, including oversight of the committee and event logistics

  • Manage United Way of Central Indiana employee giving campaign including oversight of the committee and event logistics

  • Work in partnership with Communications to create communications strategy for AES Indiana employees in order to engage in attendance/participation in events, volunteer activities, and UWCI giving campaign

  • Plans, develops and arranges for AES Indiana displays and staffing at various community meetings, conventions and conferences

  • Encourages and recruits employees to participate in community activities and volunteer opportunities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Affairs, or similar field from an accredited college or university

  • At least 8-10 years relevant experience in external relations, marketing, or public affairs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong platform skills for public speaking, professional presentations and community interactions

  • Microsoft Office skills; virtual meeting platform(s) such as Zoom or Teams; experience with a CRM tool such as Salesforce

  • Experience in working with large groups and taking a leadership role exemplifying above average team participation and team development skills

  • Self-starter and able to work with a minimum of supervision
