Job Description:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician II / Drafter who thrives in a collaborative team environment. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting engineering efforts related to manufacturing, process development, and New Product Introduction (NPI) for semiconductor devices and assemblies. Your responsibilities will include working alongside Engineers to assist with drafting, documentation, process development, manufacturing support, materials analysis and definition, and process optimization.

This hands-on position focuses on chip and wire assemblies for semiconductor and MMIC packages. You will provide vital support to existing manufacturing processes, with a particular emphasis on NPI prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Design tools, dies, jigs, or fixtures for use in manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills.
  • Prepare parts sketches and write work orders and purchase requests to be furnished by outside contractors.
  • Ensure drawings are produced in accordance with applicable drafting codes and standards.
  • Devise, fabricate, or assemble new or modified mechanical components for products.
  • Collaborate with engineers, and designers to ensure that designs meet project specifications and requirements.
  • Assist with the modification and control of procedures and documents.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent - Training program in technically-related field is highly desired - Desire for continual learning
  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Proficient in drafting and the use of AutoCAD or SolidWorks applications
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong inspection and measurement abilities
  • Must be well organized with an ability to multitask, work on a diverse set of problems while simultaneously being on a steep learning curve.
  • Practical verbal and written communication skills (English), can clearly present and discuss manufacturing information to technical and non-technical team members.

Desirable

  • 3D modeling experience
  • Machine Shop experience
  • Familiarity with statistical methods such as SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, 5 Why's, 6 Sigma, etc.
  • Chip and wire assembly experience within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with MIL-PRF-19500 & / or MIL-PRF-38534 product manufacture.
