Your Tasks:

This Scientist-I role is for those with demonstrated education, training, and/or work experience in protein engineering, computational structural biology, AI/ML, and its application in cell therapy, including CAR-T therapy, medicine, or a related field, as specified. The position reports to the group leader, and the duties include leading and assisting the group leader in executing projects and developing products in the cell and gene therapy area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct computational modeling and simulations of protein structures to predict their behavior and interactions.
  • Analyze and interpret data using cutting-edge tools and software for protein structure prediction and design.
  • Collaborate with experimental biologists to design new constructs and mutants based on structural analysis for all project progression and validation aspects.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation of computational procedures and results.
  • Present research findings in meetings, conferences, and published papers.
  • Stay updated on current literature and advancements in protein engineering and computational biology.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team projects, contributing computational insights as a subject matter expert to overall research goals.
  • Responsible for the development of computational methodologies and strategies in the analysis of proteins.
  • Cross-functional collaborations between all sites globally.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining databases for protein structures and related information.
  • Utilize machine learning techniques for pattern recognition and predictive modeling in protein engineering.
  • Provide computational training and support to lab members and collaborators.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. Degree in (biochemistry, biochemical engineering, computational science); 0-2 years of relevant experience and/or training in structural biology, computational biology, immunology, cancer immunology, cell therapy, AI/ML in biology; Or a combination of education and experience.
  • Candidates from both industry and academia are welcome.
  • Candidates with higher experience are encouraged to apply. If selected, we will calibrate the level and title according to the years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience or a thorough understanding in any of the following areas is a plus: advanced Linux bash scripting, Python programming, pymol, docker, protein crystallography, cloning, protein expression, library design, protein characterization, assay design, cell culture.
  • Experience in cutting-edge AI/ML technologies (such as ESM2, alphafold, novafold), protein modeling techniques is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate results to a diverse cross-functional audience.
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills, appropriate sense of urgency, and the ability to work independently.
