The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) who uses the nursing process to provide nursing care to patients receiving therapies within the multidisciplinary activities of the ICU Unit. The RN supervises work assignments of the nursing assistants and is responsible to the Nurse Manager. The RN will provide professional nursing care for all patients of the unit according to the established standards, practices and philosophies of Carle Richland Memorial Hospital (CRMH).


Qualifications

Certifications: Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR);
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA);
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.
Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution.
Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN demonstrate competency in giving blood transfusions.
The RN will demonstrate competency in delivery of care by reviewing, transcribing and implementing physician orders in a timely manner, communicate the response to treatment while involving the patient family and significant other in decision making.
The RN will assist physicians with procedures The RN focuses on patient satisfaction by utilizing white boards, patient rounding and bedside reporting.
The RN performs or assists with the following therapies utilizing proper techniques: IV Access (Peripheral), IV Access (Central Line, PICC, and/or Infusaport), IM & SQ Injections. (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatrics).
The RN responds to emergency situations and function as an effective team member (Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
Ensures good communication with patients/family by utilizing meaningful hourly rounding, bedside report and white boards Works with ventilated patients for early mobility
Collaborates with team to ensure best outcomes Able to assist with intubation, central line insertions, Arterial lines insertion and care
Delegates patient care tasks to assigned HCT's and validates completion of tasks
Uses critical thinking to evaluate the overall patient condition and uses nursing judgment to identify and act on changes in patient status

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $28.56per hour - $47.7per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
