Job Summary

Supervises unit operations and staff. Performs a variety of management activities including coordination of unit activities, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff, payroll functions and problem resolution. Takes on a clinical role and deliver direct patient care when necessary, including on-call. Assists with development and application of departmental policies and procedures and associated regulatory requirements for Interventional Radiology. Identifies performance improvement opportunities and assists manager with development of action plans to address quality assurance issues. Computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required.

Essential Functions

  • Performs a variety of patient care activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care on assigned shift/service. Activities include rounds, investigation/resolution of patient care issues; coordination procedural schedule, resource management ensuring appropriate staffing and equipment; direct patient care; and interdepartmental coordination.

  • Performs a variety of personnel activities by assisting with the interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and performance management of assigned staff. Assists with orientation and development of staff.

  • Performs a variety of customer service activities to ensure that customer service expectations are met or exceeded. Activities include role modeling; staff counseling; patient rounds; service recovery; and problem resolution. Manage the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks, preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Oversees daily equipment and supply needs to ensure the provision of high quality, cost-effective care.

  • Monitors department performance of KPIs, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary PI activities.

  • Manages department budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.

  • Manages department human resources by determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resource management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a supervisor job which may have direct supervision of team members which may include hire/termination authority, disciplinary authority, and performance management responsibilities.May have budget input or responsibilities. Job is not considered a member of management staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree in Radiology.

  • Experience - Three (3) years interventional radiology

In Lieu Of

  • In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, military experience in healthcare with ARRT and Interventional Lab experience, 2 years or greater

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT ( R )

  • ARRT (VI) or (CV)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be knowledgeable of department regulatory requirements including CMS, Joint Commission, and DHEC standards.

  • Epic Cupid or Radiant preferred
