JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Representative is responsible for the supervision and administration of project safety initiatives, compliance, and training programs designed to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and ensure compliance with established regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Two years construction/safety experience or equivalent combinations of training and related experience


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


  • Knowledge and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is crucial
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assume professional safety role and promote safe operations
  • Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management/supervisory personnel
  • Assist in building of Job Hazard Analysis and Site-Specific Safety Plans
  • Assist in supervision and administration of safety, compliance, and training activities
  • Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety training programs
  • 80/20 - 80% Walking the jobsite, conducting work area inspections, safety audits, observations and 20% document activities and office responsibilities
  • Document near misses, accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities with company tools and platforms
  • Assist in management of driver training, DOT compliance and records maintenance
  • Support Safety Committee meetings and incident reviews as required
  • Accompany safety, health, and insurance inspectors on walk through tours as required
  • Review safety related journals, catalogs, etc. to keep abreast of changes/improvements in techniques, protective safety equipment, and material
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


  • Required to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Requires travel: Minimal (up to 10%)
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Background check, credit check, MVR and drug screen may be required (will vary by position)
