About The Role
FormFactor's RF Products group collaborates with leading semiconductor manufacturers to address complex test and measurement challenges. Our technologies are essential for the wireless and high-speed communication markets, enabling the production of 5G, mmWave modems, ultra-high speed I/O, and other RF and high-frequency technologies up to and beyond 60 GHz. If you own a cell phone, our team in Beaverton likely designed the test solutions for its modems. We are seeking a simulation expert for our RF Product Development group to contribute to the design, analysis, and development of next-generation RF test products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Serve as the primary expert for RF probe electromagnetic simulation and analysis.
  • Design and provide guidance on RF products operating between 4 GHz and 1.2 THz.
  • Create, simulate, design, and optimize new RF probe architectures.
  • Simulate and troubleshoot RF probe designs and performance issues.
  • Evaluate and identify radiated field and crosstalk mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze probe/standards interactions and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Design and simulate calibration standards.
  • Collaborate with the experimental team to ensure correlation between simulation and experimental findings.
  • Produce original research and present findings at conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation products, product roadmaps, and strategic initiatives.



Education, Experience, and Skills Required


  • MS or Ph.D. in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a strong background in electromagnetic field theory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electromagnetic simulation or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with advanced 3D simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST) and simulation methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of electromagnetic theory, field interactions, and high-frequency design principles.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills.
  • Experience presenting to technical cross-functional audiences.
  • Knowledge of transmission lines, coaxial lines, and radiation fields.
  • Preferred: Scripting/coding experience (e.g., Python, MatLab, C++).
  • Preferred: Experience with RF lab equipment (e.g., VNAs, RF probes, signal generators).
  • Familiarity with software tools such as HFSS, MatLab, and JMP.


The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $94,100 and $123,480. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
