What does the job involve?

What will my responsibilities include?
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare the weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for hourly, salaried and commission-based employees. Performs administrative tasks and services to support the effective and efficient operations of the Human Resource Department.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Verifies employee work hours recorded in automated timekeeping system.
- Checks with supervisors if there are any discrepancies in terms of authorized overtime, shift or lead differentials, or reasons for absences, either paid or unpaid. Enters all authorized changes and corrections.
- Imports all employee time into payroll system. Enters special pay such as ERT, commissions, bonuses. Verifies deductions automatically imported from benefits system.
- Reviews changes to employee information such as withholding, wage garnishments or regular deductions submitted by employee to the HRIS/payroll system.
- Audits payroll register to ensure changes were made and payroll is accurate before it is final. Reconciles payroll to the ERP system.
- Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- Receives and processes child support deductions and garnishments.
- Processes paid and unpaid leave requests that have been submitted by employees and approved/denied by leads, supervisors and managers. Maintains calendar indicating approved and scheduled paid and unpaid time off for all employees.
- Analyze and respond to employee inquiries regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit and other concerns. Manually calculates retro-pay as required in case of payroll errors.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of ALL employee and company information, files and records.
- Answers the phones and greets customers in the absence of the receptionist.
- Assists Director - Human Resources as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
What qualifications should I have?
- Associate degree in related field and a minimum of two year's payroll for at least 200 employees across multiple states.
- Proficient working experience with ADP payroll software/systems.
- Excellent computer and math skills required plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Detailed oriented with good organizational and communication skills. Highly motivated team player with ability to work with others in a fast paced environment. Dependable, hard-working, self-starter with multi-tasking capabilities.
