ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Transportation Engineer will coordinate closely with the Transportation Manager, other construction teams, and subcontractors to construct all transportation related elements of the FM Diversion Project efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and checks detail plans, design calculations, cost estimations, schedules, and recommendations prepared by other engineers for completeness, mathematical accuracy, and conformity to engineering practices and standards
  • Compiles and analyzes engineering data and prepares conclusions and recommendations
  • Complete constructability reviews of all preliminary and final plans related to highways, bridges, Railroad facilities, roadway terminations, and work zone traffic control and staging plans
  • Coordinate the construction of temporary construction access for other construction teams
  • Assist with work zone traffic control maintenance and setup and attend MOT Task Force Meetings
  • Prepare preliminary layout drawings for discussion with project team
  • Maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work being completed
  • Provide construction administration services and direct on-site construction observation
  • Monitor subcontractor's quality of work and coordinate with them for any design changes or change order requests
  • Perform other related work as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Civil and/or Construction Engineering background
  • Schedule and Cost Controls
  • Production rate tracking
  • Basic practices and terminology of computer operations and computer aided design and drafting practices.
  • NDDOT policies and procedures (desirable but not required)
  • North Dakota Standard Specifications for Road and Bridges (desirable but not required)
  • Highway construction projects including, but not limited to, embankment, aggregate, asphalt and concrete pavements, pavement markings, signs, and traffic control
  • Data collection and evaluation techniques
Requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil or Construction Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment - ALL CRAFT AND FIELD POSITIONSWORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Physical Demands and Work Environment - ALL OFFICE POSITIONSWORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is primarily indoors.
  • This work environment may involve minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
