Job Summary

Facilitate and ensure positive interaction with Georgia Tech among our external partners. Promote the Institute's strategic vision and goals as they pertain to state and federal funding and legislation affecting the Institute. Identify and develop opportunities to increase the Institute's visibility, likability, influence and support with state and federal decision makers, local communities and the higher education community at large. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Georgia Tech Executive Leadership, Regents and State leadersThis position typically will advise and counsel: Georgia Tech Executive Leadership, Government & Community Relations (GCR) staff, Board of RegentsThis position will supervise: GCR staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop and manage external engagements and constituent interactions to build, maintain, and enhance Georgia Tech's influence.

Job Duty 2 -
Represent the Institute at high level meetings with state agencies.

Job Duty 3 -
Manage the GCR unit budget, HR requirements and administrative support.

Job Duty 4 -
Manage communications strategies to increase visibility and to secure funding and legislative priorities.

Job Duty 5 -
Develop and manage a tracking system for multiple simultaneous unit initiatives.

Job Duty 6 -
Represent GCR at high-level campus meetings developing and presenting strategies positioning the Institute for the best possible outcome with our state partners. Provide input for the development of strategies in securing Georgia Tech's state funding.

Job Duty 7 -
Manage and provide direct support to the President for the annual Georgia Tour.

Job Duty 8 -
Work in a cohesive manner with the USG to promote USG priorities, including serving in a leadership capacity for USG committees. Management responsibility for USG Foundation scholarship initiative.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Proposed Salary

$96,210 - $125,000.00

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Finesse and diplomacy are required. Familiar with state, federal and community relations external partners. Extensive established relationships with GCR internal and external partners. Ability to work alone or collaboratively, lead or take direction. Outstanding management abilities, with the finesse, flexibility and organizational and leadership skills necessary to perform and navigate in a multi-level system of public higher education and state government. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability and willingness to forge new partnerships and interact effectively and diplomatically with all constituencies.
