WORK SHIFT: First Shift (United States of America)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for managing and coordinating all personnel activities assigned in the manufacturing departments, including Compression and Personalization. The Shift Manager reviews the schedule daily and formulates a plan to complete the schedule within the planned timeframe. This position primarily monitors, directs, motivates, and reports safety and quality aspects of the manufacturing and general work areas using the Manufacturing Operating System (M.O.S.) guidelines. This position will report to the Plant Manager. It will aid in the execution of the Plant Manager's duties in areas including, but not limited to, documentation, capacity and budget planning, training, continuous improvement, and being a backup to the Plant Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide employees with clear and concise work assignments (planned quantities based on standards).
- Understands and properly utilizes the M.O.S. system tools. Participates in daily M.O.S meetings with the Plant Manager.
- Performs follow-up and resolution of all plan variances during and post-shift. Provides feedback to the employees as a group or individually on the status of an action plan brought to their attention by an employee (team building) (follow-up).
- Review the previous day's results (safety, quality, productivity) with production employees at the start of the shift and provide directions regarding the day's goals and priorities.
- Ensures daily Prism transactions required for recording, tracking, and transferring production are executed. Reviews off-shift transfers for exceptions and performs all required transactions. Trains employees on all system transactions.
- Monitors all quality issues and makes necessary adjustments to minimize quality issues.
- Monitors and ensures all employees are working safely and following all safety regulations.
- Conducts corrective actions relative to established processes or procedures.
- Provides timely feedback regarding observations of policy and/or procedure violations.
- Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.
- Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Communicates written and oral instructions.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area. Will work with other shifts to resolve housekeeping issues.
- Conducts EHS Pre-audits using EHS Audit checklist to ensure 95% on Quarterly ESPA audits.
- Walks through the facility to (verify status?) and visually checks for facility and/or equipment damage at the beginning and end of workday.
- Trains production personnel in performing requirements of their job per established guidelines as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
- Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
- Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
- Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
- Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
- Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the work and timely performance reviews of all production personnel and supervisors as assigned. Individual will carry out managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Be able to use the M.O.S. guidelines to identify variances and develop in-line action plans to overcome obstacles and achieve the targeted standards.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.

- Associate's degree from a two- or four-year college; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
