Video: Working at Salem Health Your Role With Us: The Sterile Processing OR Materials and Supply Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Surgical Services Supply Coordinators, ensuring appropriate staffing and efficient materials sourcing and management. Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as the primary departmental administrator of QSight and acting as the departmental liaison for the health system's materials management inventory system (currently Allscripts).
- Demonstrating LEAN organizational principles, supervising the development of standard work for departmental positions, and promoting employee engagement.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge of surgical services, supplies, and ordering processes.
- Interfacing with all levels of OR and Surgical Services Management to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability within the supply acquisition process.
- Ensuring product availability and timely receipt of materials and supplies through proficient sourcing practices.
- Supervising the analysis of product needs and fiscal impacts of changes/substitutions, and working with the department to establish metrics for setting and maintaining appropriate par levels.
- Serving on relevant industry committees within the organization to stay informed about new products and industry standards.
Background/Expertise:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Three (3) or more years of supply chain experience, medical setting preferred.
- Surgical Supply Purchasing experience required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Adheres to organizational patient safety standards relevant to the department.
- Ability to detect and investigate problems, make evaluations supported by best practice, ability to provide consultation to physicians, nurses and others in area of specialization.
- Ability to implement performance improvement activities and regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Excellent communication skills. Effective communication with all members of the health care team is essential.
