Finance and Administration Manager, Arts & Sciences Department of Politics

The Department of Politics at the University of Virginia College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking applications for the position of Department Manager. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the department and contributing to a thriving academic and research environment. The Department Manager will oversee essential functions across the department, with primary responsibilities in administration, budget & finance, personnel, and academic & community engagement. Key relationships will include faculty, administrators, HR representatives and other departments in the College and Graduate School Arts & Sciences. Due to the nature of the role, this job is in the office five days a week.

Supervision & Responsibilities Include:

• Supervise the Graduate/Undergraduate Assistant.

• Manage website and social media content management and strategy

• Adapt to changing technology and systems

• Help sustain a collegial environment

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible management and administrative responsibility is required. Two years of supervisory experience is required. Relevant exempt level experience may substitute for a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field

• Experience developing and managing budgets and ability to produce, interpret, and share regular financial reporting from existing financial systems.

• Prior supervisory experience

Anticipated Hiring Range:$75,000-$90,000 and includes UVA benefits.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
