Sentara is hiring an IV Pharmacy Technician for Sentara Home Health in Charlottesville, VA

$5,000 Sign on Bonus for Qualified Candidates!

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: First

Hours: 8am-5pm

No Weekends

Performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates advanced specialized skills and ownership for the work area and obtains advanced certification in their area of practice.

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions
  • Ability to work independently in the work area with little oversight
  • Applies professional knowledge while working in the specialized area of the pharmacy
  • Continually seeks out additional training opportunities and stays abreast of new and changing information for assigned areas
  • Supports the training of new employees and participates in the creation and maintenance of training materials
  • Provides peer coaching and constructive feedback to other colleagues in a professional and productive manner
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)

Experience

  • 4 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
