City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift Second (Evenings) (United States of America) Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department is hiring a part-time, second/evening shift, Safety Partner. FT schedule includes the requirement to work 2 Mondays, 2 Fridays, and 4 -weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6 weeks. Department Overview: The Norfolk General Hospital's Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit. OurTrauma One Facility is equipped to handle a variety of medical emergencies, and approximately 10% are Trauma related. Position Overview: As aSafety Partner with Sentara, you will assist with keeping patients and the hospital a safe environment. The primary duties of this position include sitting with patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, self-harm, or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain function during their hospital stay. Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program strongly preferred. Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Core competencies for all safety partners to include communication, confidentiality, de-escalation, fall prevention, patient safety, restraints, stroke, and suicide. De-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days of hire, except for those in Behavioral Health within 15 days of hire.
