The Sr. Accountant is a key financial accounting partner that ensures proper accounting primarily for the accounting of debt instruments held centrally at CEI. This position will require a thorough understanding of accounting for debt instruments, as well as lease and equity accounting. This will include roll forward reporting and disclosures, reconciliations, and monthly balance sheet review processes. This position will require work in partnership with various CEI and CCI departments including finance, treasury, AP, and supply chain. This position will sometimes be expected to review reports/results with Management.

Job Responsibilities:

Accounting Duties:

  • Help lead the accounting for debt instruments for CEI and CCI, including the month-end close processes specific to debt-related transactions and ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Assist with the lease accounting monthly close process for all divisions by independently reviewing new lease documents and adding initial ASC 842 accounting schedules in the system, updating existing schedules for modifications, terminations and related items
  • Perform variance analysis on financial results to determine significant changes impacting the financial statements (monthly & quarterly BS review)
  • Assist with various audits including pension, other benefit plans, etc
  • Review lease clearing accounts' monthly activity, for any discrepancies
  • Review Balance Sheet reconciliations for CCI GL accounts, to ensure balances are properly supported and explained, independently researching and working with business partners to resolve any reconciliation issues in a timely manner
  • Prepare and record manual journal entries as needed for all divisions
  • Review recurring JE's annually for any adjustments needed
  • Prepare monthly rollforwards for Debt
  • Prepare monthly Interest Expense & Accr Interest reconciliation
  • Record monthly JE's to eliminate intercompany debt and interest
  • Record JE's for new debt issuance & amortization of debt issuance costs. Track costs for Cash Flow purposes
  • Analyze ST-LT liabilities monthly and adjust for any changes in current period
  • Assist with requests from Auditors and Tax Department for all divisions
  • Partner with Financial Reporting to ensure all internal controls are adhered to and financial statements are fairly and accurately presented
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries
  • Determine proper GL Acct coding for CEI intercompany transactions
  • Create process documentation for any new processes. Adjust existing process documentation to reflect any changes in current processes
  • Provide support to key finance and business partners related to questions around month-end entries, accounting for projects, and other topics
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement of accounting processes
  • Various ad hoc accounting and reporting duties


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.


Experience:

  • 2+ ASC 470 debt accounting experience required, ASC 842 lease accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Financials, Blackline Systems & OneStream, Office 365 suite applications
  • Experience with CoStar or similar lease software
  • Ability to read, identify key elements of debt agreements and lease contracts to support proper accounting treatment
  • Proven ability to deliver high levels of customer service
  • Experience within a Center of Excellence environment
  • Experience in organizational change - including large scale transformation initiatives
  • Global experience in a multinational organization a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication is mandatory

  • Excellent problem solving and prioritization skills with strong attention to detail

  • Strong computer skills and proficient use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to work with all levels in the organization


USD 79,400.00 - 119,000.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $79,400.00 - $119,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
