The Environmental Sustainability Specialist provides technical support, leadership, and oversight for environmental and sustainability issues and programs that affect Toshiba International Corporation.

Responsibilities:



  • For the Industrial Division, develop and create effective Environmental compliance and management systems to maintain TIC s Clean Texas Status, EPA and TCEQ compliance, and continual improvement within Toshiba Group s Environmental Audit System.
  • Responsible for overall environmental compliance activities such as air permitting, Storm-water, SPCC plans, hazardous waste, wastewater, etc;
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations and programs.
  • Duties will include: permit preparation, inspections and assessments, sampling and possible field activities, data analysis, report preparation and related environmental activities. Provide data and support for environmental initiatives and reporting requests made from Toshiba parent companies.
  • Participate as a Toshiba Group Environmental Auditor. (Occasional overnight travel is required.)
  • Review pollution-control compliance schedules and inspection reports to ensure compliance with pollution control regulations.
  • Coordinate and control pollution monitoring activities for the facility.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
  • Work with the Toshiba Eco-Product Teams within Industrial, Transmission Distribution and Power Systems Divisions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the list of products identified as Toshiba Environmentally Conscious Products (ECPs or Eco-products).
  • Provide data for and Sustainability, Greener Environment, Bio-diversity or related reporting.
  • Be a resource of information on ECP designation and general sustainability topics for product development teams.
  • Create training materials for associates and stakeholders on sustainability-related topics such as water efficiency, green product attributes, certifications, and green building programs.
  • Present said training as necessary.
  • Report on developments in sustainability in the market to provide managers current information for planning purposes.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on green initiatives.


Education/Certification:



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related technical degree
  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Master's degree in related field or advance professional certifications preferred


Skills & Experience:



  • Previous experience in developing or maintaining an environmental management system
  • Experience in audit systems
  • Previous experience in EHS role in a manufacturing environment
  • Success in environmental compliance activities (air permitting, stoem-water, SPCC plans, hazardous waste, wastewater)
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal environmental regulations and programs
  • Track record of successful relationships with regulatory agencies
  • Successful candidates will possess considerable knowledge of principles and practices of environmental administration
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required


Travel:



  • Up to 15% to 25%
