FUNCTIONAL SPECIALIST

Horizon Industries Limited (Horizon) is a dynamic IT and Management Consulting firm based in the Washington, DC area and we are currently seeking a Functional Specialistfor a full-time position remotely supporting the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).

• This is designed for other than Information Technology functional expertise, but the expertise is required to support IT tasks. This is a non-management position.
• Provides task-unique functional expertise necessary to interpret requirements, ensure responsiveness and achieve successful performance.
• Advises IT consultants with the analysis, evaluation and implementation of systems and other IT tasks.
• Document functional requirements and technical specifications.
• Experience with preparing Software Engineering Model artifacts (e.g., DoDAF, infrastructure drawing, process flows, etc.)

Required Skills / Experience:

• 
  
  
  
  • Five (5) years relevant experience.
  • Expertise required to support various IT tasks and processes
  • Familiar with multiple methodologies to collect customer requirements (JARs,whiteboard,interviews etc.)remotely using onlinetools including Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to understand business rules and business needs to formulate and document functionalrequirements
  • Collaborate with the technicalteam to translateand documentfunctionalrequirementsintotechnicalspecification,non-functional requirements, andcomponentdesigns
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to analyze and communicate solution requirements, ensuring that the final product meets functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with Developers and Test Specialists toformulate test cases to ensure alignmentof the latter with requirements as required
  • Experiencewriting use cases and user stories
  • Working knowledgeof multiplesystem developmentmethodologies
  • Knowledge and experience assisting in the preparation of system documentation includinginfrastructure drawings,DoDAFartifacts, and documentation required for system accreditation
  • Working knowledge of Change Management and process improvements
  • Excellent understanding of Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) preparation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize activities, and work under challenging timelines.

Certification Requirements : Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority (e.g., Security+)

Salary range: $85K - $135K.
