The Wholesale Team supports the city's most talented chefs, restaurateurs, cafes, offices and hotels to ensure they execute consistent, high quality coffee programs. The Market Sales Manager plays a crucial role in this mission. The Market Sales Manager is responsible for successful deliverance of yearly top line budgets in the market through collaboration with the National Accounts and Food Service teams, utilizing resources within the market to grow existing accounts & capture new business, and building & developing a team of high performing individuals. Specific responsibilities and area of responsibility are as follows: Revenue Generation & Retention: Collaborate with the Key Distributors, Sales Representatives and Account Managers in the market to help develop their networks and meet new business targets for the market.
- Execute the Outbound Sales Strategies to create and actively manage and convert a target list of accounts - replacing target accounts once they've been won
- Generate additional sales for the entire market through mentorship, connections and guidance
- Develop and maintain a close relationship with the top 20 - 25 groups and accounts in the Market.
- Organize quarterly meetings and prepare content to review results with key clients and contacts.
Collaborate with the National Account Manager & Food Service Team: Effectively utilizing the resources in the market to help win and support national accounts and food service accounts.
- Schedule a monthly meeting with the Food Service and National Accounts Team to strategize about existing and future opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategies to win new business with Canteen, Aramark and other foodservice partners
- Execute strategy to deliver the National Accounts & Food Service goals pertaining to the market.
Talent & Culture: Work in tandem with the Hospitality team to effectively communicate department goals while simultaneously growing and developing a future generation of managers and leaders.
- Oversee and lead ongoing succession planning and career advancement
- Make sure the market always has proper staffing coverage
- Support and mentor growth through detailed, constructive feedback on a regular cadence
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert amongst direct reports & peers
- Build rapport by creating and maintaining relationships through high levels of visibility, communication, & transparency
- Sharing market trends with the Regional Sales Director
- Share pertinent actionable information to market within a week unless otherwise stated
- Sharing monthly market updates with the team via email
- Reporting quarterly market updates with the Hospitality Leadership team
- Create and cultivate a culture of accountability, sense of urgency, proactive problem solving and ownership
Strategic Sales: Maintain deep knowledge of the market on a macro and micro level.
- Work directly with the Regional Sales Director to create a strategy that balances the categories of accounts (restaurant, cafe, hotel, food service, etc.) within the market.
- Focus on driving growth in any category where we are underrepresented.
- Identify any specific product categories or geographical areas where we could increase sales by implementing a targeted strategy.
- Coordinate and execute events within the region that will help to build brand awareness and create opportunities for new wholesale clients.
- Pivoting and shifting gears when Senior Leadership identifies additional opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 - 5 years' experience in Hospitality, Business to Business Sales, or the coffee industry.
- Proven record of accomplishment in your professional career.
- Positive and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts.
- Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and able to take constructive feedback.
- The ability to efficiently manage various high-priority responsibilities while keeping management informed.
- Ability to work occasional nontraditional hours
- Occasionally assist lifting, moving, and/or carrying coffee equipment
- Ability to travel locally (50 miles) and regionally (100+ miles), (70%, 30%, respectively)
- Ability to travel for up to 2-3 consecutive nights once or twice per month
- Valid driver's license and vehicle
- Ability to frequently work out of local La Colombe facility and visit existing and potential new customers in person.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 - 3 years of business-to-business sales experience
- Fine dining, specialty coffee, or 4-star hotel experience.
- Experience using sales tools (salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (excel, word, PowerPoint, or equivalents)
- Coffee Certifications (Q-Grader, AST, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of coffee's journey from seed to cup, brewing techniques, extraction theory, and mastery of coffee equipment.
