Dean of Students Office - Student Care Services:

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities encompasses both Student Care Services and Student Conduct and Academic Integrity. Its mission is to foster a campus environment characterized by integrity, civility, accountability, student success, and well-being. To achieve this, the office offers a variety of resources, educational programs, and support services for the university community.

The Opportunity:

The Student Care Coordinator (TEMP) role is responsible for addressing the diverse needs of university students facing academic challenges, mental or emotional health issues, psychological concerns, financial difficulties, disciplinary matters, and social adjustments, including family and relationship dynamics. This role involves various interventions, referrals, and follow-up services.

Key responsibilities include meeting with students, conducting assessments, managing care, and collaborating with faculty, healthcare providers, parents, community partners, and colleagues within the Division of Student Success and Well-being.

Responsibilities:


  • This position provides direct student support i.e., identifying and supporting students in need. Meetings with students, development of care plans, and follow-up with students to ensure their student success and wellbeing. Serving as a care manager for students in distress and making recommending students of concern directly to the Director.
  • Collecting, evaluating and recording all facts pertaining to reports of student of concern.
  • Formulating intervention plans in order to minimize and/or resolve problems with students of concern.
  • Providing referrals to support services within the university as well as community agencies.
  • Following up on prior cases to ensure compliance with recommendations.
  • Coordinating efforts related to homelessness, housing insecurity, food insecurity and financial insecurity to determine students' needs.
  • Coordinating efforts for compliance with university mandated-assessment policy for Baker Act and Marchman Act students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related social/behavioral science field.
  • 1-3 years working in a higher education setting or related field.
